History of Poole
Interestingly, Poole started as a Iron Age settlement by Celtic people. Unfortunately, Poole was used by the Romans as a landing base during their conquest of Britain in the 1st century. The Saxon invasion in the 7th century resulted in Poole being included in the Kingdom of Wessex and was a base for fishing and a place for ships to anchor on their way to Wareham.
